It’s been a welcome change of scenery as the riders have now left the desert and entered central Mongolia, with its lush green valleys, crystal-clear rivers, and forested mountains. Earlier today Alan and John from the UK, were at the top of one of these mountains when golf ball-sized hailstones started pelting down interrupting a previously perfect summers day. After weathering the storm, they found themselves cut off by a river flash flooding in the valley below. Tonight, they are safe after being taken in by a local nomadic yak herding family and should be able to continue in the morning as the rivers are expected to drop overnight.
