After two nights of camping, riders were ready for a yurt camp stay which also just happened to have a natural geothermal hot spring on the grounds. This was perfect for relaxing those tired muscles after already covering 663km over a range of challenging terrain in the last three days. During the route, Stuart’s motorcycle developed a small crack in the engine mount. In a great example of the Mongolian hospitality and ingenuity we were directed to a local mechanic who, without delay, disconnected the bike’s battery before welding up the steel part, sending our Kiwi rider on his way in no time. As we are riding the same motorcycles are all the local people use in rural Mongolia, our needs and problems are well known by many. Spare parts like inner tubes are even available in most of the stores, even in the most remote village along our route.
