Last night, we had the pleasure of camping close to a Nomad’s ger camp. This family has been coming back to this patch of land for generations, living lightly on the land raising their livestock and family. The elder of the family was excited to welcome us into his ger (yurt) and share with us dairy products they produce and hear via some translation, about our journey across Mongolia riding the very same motorcycle he also owns. The weather had been perfect for the previous day’s ride, mid-twenties and not a cloud in the sky, this was soon to change… In the middle of the night the group was hit with a localised storm, that ripped through what we thought was a protected camp site. Luckily everyone’s tents held up to the wind and rain.. just! In the morning the storm had cleared, the nomad elder visited and told us he was worried about us with the storm and had sent his son out to check on us during the night, ready to save any foreigners if needed!
